Biography

Leonard Trump, the founder of Clay Interiors, began painting wooden yachts as a teenager in the mid 1960’s, learning the trade under the direction of European boat builders and master painters. After high school graduation in the early 1970’s, Leonard continued to work for a number of years on private yachts in Vancouver at Royal Van Yacht Club and the Bay Shore Hotel Marina. Attention to detail was a daily event for Leonard. Owners expected top quality work while maintaining the hand crafted finishes on teak and mahogany that adorned the interiors and exteriors of their personal yachts.

Leonard has over 15 years painting experience and established his own painting business (after many years in marketing and sales) and began painting homes in the Okanagan with the skill and attention to detail he had learned years ago.

Having worked with toxic products in both the marine and housing industry, Leonard now focuses his painting efforts on providing his clients with choices, a combination of non-toxic clay based paints, Lime Plasters from Stucco Italiano, and natural clay textures from American Clay. It’s a wonderful balance to applying the best in natural finishes in your home.
